Robert Frank’s photographic survey of America between 1955 and 1956, The Americans, is now on display at the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC). Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the book publication, The Americans documents the lives of ordinary people and some of the symbols of American identity reflected in Cold War American culture.
