Drumroll, please . . .

The next ASHP staff reading will be Eric Avila’s Popular Culture in the Age of White Flight: Fear and Fantasy in Suburban Los Angeles (University of California Press, 2006). Aaron and I chose it because it combines two of our own scholarly interests–urban studies and popular culture–into one ambitious attempt to connect spatial change, popular culture, and political realignment in post-WWII southern California. We’ll order the books right away and distribute them when they arrive; as of now, the date for this reading discussion will be April 7th.
