Ever since ASHP embarked on our staff blog, I’ve been meaning to steer us towards Andrew Sullivan’s “Why I Blog” article from the November 2008 Atlantic. In addition to providing a pithy history of ship logs and their eventual re-imagination online, Sullivan suggests how a media that is at once superficial and, at times, “painfully public,” is also so liberating and contagious for writers and readers alike.
